Yasmin Ali is an award-winning chartered chemical engineer, working in energy. She has experience in coal and gas fired power stations, oil and gas, district heating systems, and energy innovation, including production of hydrogen and energy efficiency in industry. Passionate about promoting engineering stories and careers to the public and young people, in this interview, we chat to her about her engineering journey and her upcoming book - Power-up
Yasmine is known by her many hats: Project Manager, Chartered Engineer, Writer, amongst many others. After making the switch towards Chemical Engineering post-Upper sixth, an internship at E. ON confirmed her passion for the field. Since then, she has trailblazed her way through the energy industry and made a name for herself in the field of Hydrogen production.
In the interview, she shares more about navigating life as a Chemical Engineer and writing about how others are doing the same. The discussion follows on about her upcoming book on Energy called, Power-Up. The book aims to shed some light on the back end of Energy and about energy distribution in the UK. A key takeaway from the interview was the importance of calm. Life is a constant balancing act so enjoy the present with those you work with and focus on priorities. Whilst worrying about the future, we might lose sight of the present.
